Last year the Lindsay volleyball team didn't win a match.  This year the Lady Knights are one of only eight Class A teams in Texas that still have a shot at the state title.

In only their second season of varsity volleyball, the amazing Lady Knights have advanced all the way to the Region II-1A Finals.  Lindsay will face Kopperl at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 10 at Weatherford High School.  The winner advances to the semifinals in the UIL State Volleyball Championship Tournament.

Lindsay head coach Bridget Anderle said her team was getting better every time they stepped out the court and that certainly seemed to be the case in the Region II-1A Semifinals played Friday evening in Weatherford.  In the first game, the Gorman Lady Panthers picked up a double-digit victory.  It turned out to be their only win of the night.

Lindsay spotted their opponent the first contest, 25-15, and then stormed back to take the next three games and eliminate Gorman.

In a pivotal second game, Lindsay held on to win, 25-22.  The surging Lady Knights ran away with game three, 25-14, and Lindsay sealed the match with a 25-21 victory in game four.

And as if that wasn't exciting enough, three of the Lindsay starters left Weatherford immediately after the game Friday night and drove to Round Rock where the trio captured the Class 1A State Cross Country Meet team title Saturday morning.  The three versatile athletes, seniors Chelsea Hermes and Katelyn Brewer and junior Rose Hermes, are now back in Weatherford to catch their breath before the regional finals begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening.

Against a solid Gorman squad in the regional semifinals, Chelsea Hermes and Kaylee Murphree each recorded double-doubles.  Hermes had 25 kills and 10 blocks, while Murphree finished with 22 kills and 10 blocks.

Madisen Burrows was busy setting up the duo and ended the four-game match with 39 assists.  Katelyn Brewer got a pair of aces past the Gorman defense and kept three digs alive.

Kristin Martin chalked up a team-high eight digs and Taylor Loch came up with four digs.  Rose Hermes contributed two digs.
