SOSU tripped up by Tarleton State in five games

DURANT, Okla. - The Southeastern Oklahoma State volleyball team (6-18, 1-8 LSC) traded punches with visiting Tarleton State (12-14, 5-6 LSC) in a see-saw matchup, but came out on the short end of the 3-2 final score on Thursday night at Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

SOSU came out on fire, running to a 30-21 game one win. TSU responded, however, with wins in games two and three, 30-16 and 30-28, respectively. The Storm evened the match with a 30-23 win in game four, but the TexAnns outlasted SOSU in game five for a 15-8 win.

Destiny Brown led all attackers with 18 kills, leading a total of four Storm players in double-figures in kills. Jordan Parks added 14 kills and hit .355, while Crystal Trussell and Krista Stamp each chipped in 11. SOSU out-killed TSU, 68-to-67.

Mashequa Gentry posted 19 digs to lead the Storm defensively, while four others reached double-digits. Brown logged another double-double with 16 digs in addition to her match-high kills, while Lindsay Ellisor also added 16. Kristen Stevens chipped in 14 digs, while Stamp completed a double-double with 13.

Ellisor led all setters ion the match with 53 assists to register a double-double of her own as well.

Southeastern will be back in action at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning when it hosts Texas A&M-Kingsville at Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium in what will be the final home game of the season.
