Ladonia -- Funeral services for Basil Curwood Carder, age 82, of Ladonia, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Gober Cemetery.  Basil passed away early Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Basil was born February 25, 1925 in Fannin County, Texas,  the son of Wesley B. Carder and Annie B. Smith Carder.  He attended school in Gober.  Basil married Shirley Jean Smith, Jan. 20, 1948 in Honey Grove, TX, and she preceded him in death June 30, 1998. 

Basil was a mechanic for many years, and later a farmer.  He was a member of Gober Baptist Church and attended Hail Methodist Church also. 

Basil enjoyed playing and singing music in his younger years.  As time went on, he loved listening to his sons and grandsons playing music as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by
2 Sons:  Kevin Carder and wife, Judy of Ladonia
 Leddy Carder of Paris
Brother:  Harold Carder of Pottsboro
Sister:  Dottie Parsons of Fort Worth
2 Grandsons:  Collin Carder of Ladonia and Levi Carder of Paris

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday night.
