When Attentus Healthcare purchased the hospital in Bonham in the spring of 2005, their vision for the potential of the facility excited city and county leaders.  Thursday night, many of those same area leaders met with representatives of the regional hospital to reflect on the many improvements produced in 24 very busy months.

Appropriately, the theme for the evening was Promises Made - Promises Kept and the sum of those promises is quite stunning. The star of the evening may very well have been Red River Regional Hospital's new Toshiba Aquilion Advanced Multislice CT Scanner, a state-of-the-art imaging device that came with a hefty $1,033,236 price tag.

The Aquilion Multislice CT Scanner will produce better images and better coverage.  That will mean less time on the table for patients and fewer repeated exams.  The new CT Scanner is expected to be operational in about three weeks.

A long list of equipment and information system upgrades purchased by Red River Regional Hospital over the past two years cost $3,812,867.

New physicians were also needed and five young doctors were introduced to the crowd Thursday evening: Michael Brown, DO; Craig McCoy, DPM; Jeff Meincke, MD; Brian Miller, MD; and Vijaya Nandi, MD.  In addition, Melissa Tuck, MD, will join the staff early in 2008.

Almost all of the hospital has been renovated in recent months, including a more comfortable Mammography Suite, ICU Waiting Room, Physical Therapy and Cardiac Rehab, lobby, Cafe-D Hospital Cafeteria, gift shop and chapel. The total cost of renovations undertaken by the management and staff at Red River Regional Hospital in the past two years is approaching a quarter million dollars.  Patient rooms and the Emergency Room will soon be remodeled, as well.

The accumulation of these efforts led to Red River Regional Hospital winning the prestigious Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award of Excellence.

Red River Regional Hospital CEO David Conejo

"We have the skills, we have the technology and we have the service," hospital CEO David Conejo stated.

Mayor Roy Floyd expressed his appreciation for the improvements at Red River Regional Hospital.

"Thank you for making our hospital viable," Mayor Floyd remarked.  "It means so much to our community.  When new businesses come see me, the first things they ask about is our hospital and our schools."

Mr. Conejo and Director of Marketing Linda Gazaway draw names for several lucky prize winners at the end of the evening.
