The United Methodist Women will host a Women’s Health Fair on Saturday, May 13, from 8:00 AM until 2:00 at the First United Methodist Church of Leonard, TX. The event is free and open to the public.
The fair will feature Dr. Gail Lebovic, MA, MD, FACS. Dr. Lebovic has recently been appointed as the Director of Women’s Services for the Cooper Clinic at Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX. She has committed her career to developing new techniques in the diagnosis, treatment, and post-operative care of breast cancer patients. At the Cooper Clinic, she hopes to expand her focus to include methods for early detection and prevention of breast cancer by encouraging regular screening, cancer risk assessment, and encouraging women to lead a healthier life style through exercise and nutrition.
Dr. Lebovic’s medical practice encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, management of congenital breast deformities, and cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast. She is a pioneer in the evolving field of breast surgery known as Oncoplastic Surgery. A passionate patient advocate, Dr. Lebovic has authored numerous scientific publications and has been featured as a breast-health expert in various broadcast media, including ABC Prime Time News, CNN World Report, Cooper Healthy Living, numerous newspaper features, magazine articles and radio talk shows.
In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Lebovic is internationally recognized as an entrepreneur and medical inventor in the field of women’s health. As an inventor of the MammoPad breast cushion, she pioneered an innovative form of pain control that makes mammography more comfortable. To date, the MammoPad has been used to help over 7 million women.
Following Dr. Lebovic’s lecture, her staff will provide booths to demonstrate and answer questions concerning ultrasound and invasive biopsy techniques, mammography, the MammoPad and cancer and genetic screening.
Several Community Health Leaders will be on hand to address women’s health and lifestyle issues. The Reba Mammography Mobile Unit will be set up to provide mammograms. The UMW will provide a light breakfast and lunch.
Plan to join the United Methodist Women, the Health Fair Team and the women from our community as we learn to be fit for life.
