GCC adds motor control class

The Electronics Department at Grayson County College will be offering a motor controls class next month due to industry demand.

The specialized course will focus on the basics of single and three phase motor control techniques, internal motor connections, sensors, switches, contractors, relays and thermal motor protection. Professor Gary Hill will teach the course on Monday nights from 5:00-9:50 pm. The class will begin March 20 and end July 3.

Hill recommends that interested students have some basic knowledge of electrical fundamentals prior to enrolling for this class. The course is appropriate for anyone wanting to either learn motor controls or update their current skills.

Registration for the course will be held March 13-17. Students wanting to earn college credit will need to complete the GCC admissions process and enroll through the Admissions Office. Students wanting to earn continuing education credit will enroll through the GCC Center for Workplace Learning at 903-463-8731.
