The Texoma Council of Governments (TCOG) coordinates the grant application review and priority setting process for a variety of grants provided by the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, State of Texas.

To assist interested applicants in learning about the various funding sources and the requirements for grant submission, a workshop will be held January 30 at TCOG.  The workshop is for those who have never applied to CJD as well as those who have previous experience with the CJD grant application process.

The workshop is scheduled for 2 p.m. January 30 in the Eisenhower Room (First Floor) at the Texoma Council of Governments, 1117 Gallagher, Sherman, Texas. The session will last no more than two hours.  Participation in the grant application workshop is mandatory for all applicants.

The coordination of the application process, review and priority setting by Texoma Council of Governments has resulted in grant awards in the Grayson, Cooke and Fannin county region in past years to the Texoma Regional Police Academy, Grayson County Attorney’s Office, the Grayson County Sheriff’s office, Texoma Senior Citizen Foundation, Fannin County Attorney’s Office, Grayson County Crisis Center, Grayson, Fannin and Cooke County CASAs, Fannin County Children’s Advocacy Center, Cooke County Friends of the Family, Fannin County Family Crisis Center, Child Guidance Clinic of Texoma, the Association of Boys Club and Camp Fire of Cooke County and the Substance Abuse Center.

Some of the available funding sources are the Victims of Crime Act funds, State Criminal Justice Planning funds, Violence Against Women Act funds, Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Funds, and Safe and Drug Free Schools Act funds. This workshop will not address Homeland Security grant funding.

Information on the funding sources available, some of which are federal and some state of Texas funds, will be provided at the workshop.

Eligible applicants differ for each funding source.  Some eligible applicants are:  non-profit corporations, community supervision and corrections, local units of government, faith-based organizations, independent school districts, counties, regional education service centers, cities, colleges, and Native American Tribes.
