WHAT'S FOR LUNCH?
During the 2004-2005 school year, Sherman ISD served over 5,900 meals daiy and 1,050,000 annually. Breakfast and lunches include fresh fruit and vegetables, along with salad bars and speciality foods in the secondary schools. Applications for free and reduced meals are available from the Central Office and each campus. Applications must be returned to the school cafeteria or office within the first thirty days of school for a student to be approved and remain on the program. Meal tickets may be purchased by the week, month or year through the cafeteria manager at each school. Cafe' Prepay is also available online at www.pay4lunch.com. Through this website, you may use your Visa, Master Card or Discovery Card to make payments on your child's meal account. Please remember that at the elementary level, we only allow three charges if a child has no lunch money. After the third charge, a student will receive a peanut butter and jelly sandwich until his charge is cleared. No charges are allowed at the middle or high school.
Breakfast and lunch prices have not changed. They are, grades K-4, $1.65, grades 5 - 12, $1.75.

With backpacks in tow, kindergarten student, Kevin Hernandez, first grader, Roxanne Lane and Jonathan Cook are ready for school.

Sherman ISD employees were welcomed back with a delicious barbecue lunch and motivational program. Success everyday for every child was the theme as indicated by this Diane and Lara Jones original backdrop.

DOWNTOWN SHERMAN WELCOMES NEW TEACHERS
The Downtown Sherman Association along with other area businesses welcomed the new Sherman ISD teachers with a luncheon at the recently opened Kelly Square restaurant, The Grapevine. The following businesses sponsored the lunch and gave away door prizes to many grateful teachers: Petite Fleur, Garden Gate, Brenda's Antiques, The Perfect Touch, Special Occasions, Touch of Class Antiques, Happenings, Ringlers, Sherman Chamber of Commerce, Herald Democrat, Downtown Sherman Association, Classroom Teachers Association, Bellafontana Spa, Teacher's Cottage, American Bank, Bank One, Bank of Texas and Texoma Educators Federal Credit Union.

TWO-A-DAYS
Football players are not the only ones experiencing two-a-days. Band and volleyball players have been practicing twice a day since the end of July. Coach Aleman and her staff, April McAlister, Andrea Price, Tracy Tate and April Marlow are producing strong and fast volleyball players.
In this drill, called suicide, team members sprint back and forth, over and over, in an effort to condition their bodies for the upcoming volleyball season.

GO BAND GO
Sherman High School band director, Jeff Bradford and his staff, Rumaldo Solis, Doug Bush, Ludi Vega and Melba Avala are enduring the August temperatures as they train band members at band two-a-days.
"We are learning the fundamentals so that we can prepare for the fall show," said Bradford.
The show title for this year is "Emotions of the Soul." It is an original, written by the SHS band directors and will include jazz versions of familiar tunes such as "Beethovens ninth" and "When a Man Loves a Woman." Bearcat fans look forward to the SHS award winning band half-time show and this year will be very entertaining.

COLOR GUARD
Color guard instructor Ludi Vega is proud of the progress her girls have made in just one week.
"The girls have worked so hard and are able to handle these large flagpoles with ease," she said.
Shown here are the sixteen Color Guard members practicing right alongside the band. They add color and character to the band's routine. Color Guard captains are Lauren Dean, Kristen Copeland and Rebecca Rulla.
