Open Arms Homeless Shelter has now been open for two months. Twenty-five residents have stayed in the shelter during this time. In July the shelter averaged six residents per night. Due to COVID 19 the shelter is limiting the number of residents in the shelter.

The Heights Car Show partners with area car clubs to benefit Network of Community Ministries with drive-thru event Saturday July 11 in Richardson.

On Sunday July 12, 2020, in the absence of our pulpit minister Allan Lay, the Northside church of Christ, 2020 N. Center, Bonham TX, is pleased to welcome Welton Stoker [pictured in the middle].

Northside Church of Christ in Bonham will have a guest speaker this Sunday; Kolton Balance and his wife Katy are visiting. "I am 23 years old and married to a beautiful Christian woman named Katy," says Kolton. "Katy is from Ada, Oklahoma and I am from Kountze, Texas. We are currently students at Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, Colorado. Neither one of us have grown up with any religious background. This makes us excited to share our life experiences about becoming Christians later in life and being able to help others live a faithful Christian life."

Open Arms Homeless Shelter is excited to announce that residents will be accepted starting June 8, 2020. Those in need of shelter must call 903-505-3369 to set up an appointment for admission paper work to be completed. Admission intake will take place at the shelter from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning on Monday, June 8.

On Monday, June 8, from 8:00 a.m.-10;00 a.m., the Clothing Room at the Northside Church of Christ 2020 North Center St., Bonham, Texas will be open to the public - in the parking lot - for those in need of clothing.

Open Arms Homeless Shelter in Bonham will be opening as soon as the COVID-19 crisis has passed. The shelter is working to help the homeless even though people are not yet able to stay at the building. In April four women from Honey Grove Church of God came to the shelter to help sack up groceries to distribute to homeless people. Jennifer Burgess, Open Arms Shelter Director, and several board members worked with the ladies to sack up food such as peanut butter, bread, fruit cups, canned meat, and bottled water.

The Annual Gospel Concert, featuring The McNeills, will be held on Friday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 913 South 5th Street, Bonham, TX.

The final touches have been completed on the building remodel of Open Arms Homeless Shelter. The divider curtain is hung and lockers have been installed. The opening for the shelter has been delayed because of COVID-19. Open Arms is following government guidelines to ensure the health of volunteers and future residents. But Open Arms is still working to ensure that things will run smoothly when the time comes to open. Jennifer Burgess, Open Arms Shelter Director, is diligently working to update records and organize volunteers.
