Ector -- With teams concentrating on stopping Trenton's high scoring senior Hillary Baugh, it gives the other Lady Tigers an opportunity to step into the limelight.  At Bland, it was Brianna Hart.  Against Sam Rayburn, Alix Agan carried the load.  Tuesday night in Ector, it was the other senior on the No. 3 Trenton Lady Tigers' roster that came up big when Taryn Walls drained four jumpers in rapid succession to give Trenton some breathing room in the first half.

Baugh and Agan connected early to give Trenton a 4-0 lead, but Ector came right back to tie the game on back-to-back buckets by Kristina Williams.  Walls hit her first jump shot to put Trenton up 6-4.  Williams answered with a shot off the glass the made the score 6-6, however it turned out to be Ector's last share of the lead.

Walls dropped in a long deuce and followed that with a jumper from the other side that gave Trenton a 10-6 lead going into the second stanza.

Trenton fired the ball to Baugh on an inbounds play for two points and Walls connected on her fourth field goal to put the Lady Tigers up 14-6.  Heather Johnson lit up Ector's side of the scoreboard with a basket.  Baugh slipped a pass inside to Hart for two points and Hart dished out an assist to Agan as Trenton stretched the lead to 10 points, 18-8.

Ector's Morgan Mayo scored on two nice drives and teammate Audra Rhudy got loose inside for a basket, but Trenton took a 20-14 advantage into the locker room at the break.

Ector came out strong to start the second half, however a three-point shot that could have made it a four-point game rattled out and Baugh came up with an old fashioned triple at the other end by hitting a shot despite contact and netting the free throw.  That turn of events pushed the lead back to 10 points and Trenton went on to post a 49-38 victory.

Hillary Baugh chalked up another double-double by scoring 18 points and snaring 13 rebounds.  Taryn Walls dropped in a dozen points and grabbed four boards, Brianna Hart knocked down nine points to match her nine rebounds, Alix Agan scored six, Whitney Benavides and Casey Beezley each had two points, while Catelyn Jeffrey corralled one rebound.

Audra Rhudy and Kristina Williams both had 11 points to lead the Ector LAdy Eagle attack.  Morgan Mayo scored seven, Whitney Spindle finished with five points, with Brittney Bush and Heather Johnson each putting up two points.

The loss drops Ector to 15-12 for the season and 4-4 in district play

With the win, Trenton improves to 28-0 on the year and 8-0 in District 16A, but the Trenton girls will have their hands full Friday when a 7-1 Bland team comes calling for a contest that will determine the district championship.
