Red River Valley Chorus membership campaign underway

The scores are in!  And the judges have decided that the Red River Valley Chorus of Sherman is even better than last year!  At their recent annual regional competition in Richardson, the ladies of this local Sweet Adelines chapter performed two songs and added more points to their score, verifying their musical talents!

Maybe the red and black costumes helped to “wow” the judges.  Black satin pants with sheer car wash panels were the base for the gorgeous; long sleeved, red lace tops.  Under the top, the competitors wore a black satin tank, complete with black sequins outlining both articles of clothing.  The finishing touches were the exquisite crystal, chandelier earrings, bright smiles and the enthusiasm displayed by each chorus member during their competition performance.

One of the ways these women singers prepare for their competition is by attending various educational functions presented by the Sweet Adelines International - Region 25 faculty.  One of those events will be the annual Summer Music Camp in Denton at TWU, June 22-24 with many chorus members attending.  There’s plenty to learn, but also the singers have a weekend away, staying in the dorms, being fed wonderful meals, and sharing fellowship and music with their sisters in harmony.

A special feature of this year’s SMC is the Young Women’s In Harmony Festival.  On Saturday, June 23, any gal under the age of 25 can spend the day experiencing barbershop harmony and making friends.  At the end of that wonderful day of learning, the YWIH Chorus will perform on the Saturday Night Show alongside Regional Quartet champs like Kismet and Rendition.  And the best part is it's FREE!   Just make a call to 903-957-SING to get the details.  School is out and this is a terrific opportunity to improve your singing skills!   All young women are welcome to attend!

Do you think you might be a DIVA (a Dynamic, Inspiring, Vocal Artist)?    Almost every woman wants to be a star, an actress, and sing with passion!  Beginning Monday, June 28, women singers should come to the Renaissance Retirement Center; 3701 Loy Lake Road; Second floor meeting room in Sherman for 5 weeks and become a Summer Diva!  From 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. each week, experience the joy of singing with the friendly members of the Red River Valley Chorus and find your inner DIVA!   Don’t be afraid!  No auditions required!  Call 903-957-SING today and start on your path to becoming a SUMMER DIVA!

Perform, perform, perform!  That’s what the Red River Valley Chorus is well prepared to do after attending Summer Music Camp.  And these talented ladies love to share this uniquely American musical art form; 4-part, acappella barbershop music with the Texoma community.

Performance opportunities are always welcome for just an expenses donation.  A quartet, an ensemble or the whole chorus could be available as good, wholesome entertainment for all your parties, social functions, civic, business or church events, retirement center or special occasions.

The versatile repertoire of songs the RRVC can perform includes jazz, ballads, gospel, blues, patriotic, country and contemporary music.  There is something for everyone!  Call 903-957-SING today to arrange your performance!

Also, mark your calendars now for the RRVC Christmas Show on Saturday, December 8.  The ladies performed to a packed house last year, so you need to plan ahead to attend!
