Ivanhoe, Texas resident Sarah Richardson led a discussion regarding the need for the county's assistance in order for the Lake Fannin Volunteers to meet all the stipulations of the lease from the Forest Service. Fannin County resident Jarrett Tucker said it is unfortunate that a historical campsite and scenic 2,000 acres overlooking the Red River are going to waste. Fannin County resident David Keene stressed the need for representatives of the Army Corps of Engineers, Forest Service, North Texas Municipal Water District and Fannin County to sit down together and make sure everyone is on the same page. Fannin County Judge Newt Cunningham suggested that the initial steps would be to revitalize the Lake Fannin Board of Directors and examine the bylaws.

Austin College has named President Emeritus of the National Constitution Center Jeffrey Rosen as the 2026 Posey Leader-in-Residence. Rosen is a professor of law at The George Washington University Law School, a contributing editor at The Atlantic, and the CEO Emeritus of the National Constitution Center, where he hosts We the People, a weekly podcast of constitutional debate. Rosen, a graduate of Harvard University, University of Oxford, and Yale Law School, is the author of nine books.

Child safety seats, including boosters, are proven to be effective in preventing injuries and deaths, but 43% of children killed in crashes are found to be unrestrained. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials have announced the closure of the US 75 northbound frontage road between Loy Lake Road in Sherman and FM 691. The closure is scheduled to start at 7:00 a.m. on March 30, 2026. The complete limits of the closed off frontage road is anticipated to be reopened in spring of 2027.

The Fannin County Master Gardeners Home and Garden Expo next Saturday, March 28, at the Multi-Purpose Center will feature four knowledgeable speakers on topics of interest to gardeners. Dr. Garett Slater will start the day at 9:00 with his presentation “Pollinator-Smart Gardening: What to Plant, When, and Why.” Michael Cook, an AgriLife Extension agent who specializes in viticulture and enology, will be speaking on “Growing Grapes as Easy as 1, 2, 3.” Fannin County Master Gardener Sharon Kilpatrick will present her program, “the Buzz about Bees” and Treva Gibbs, Advanced Master Gardener - Entomology, will speak on the ten most prevalent and damaging insect pests in our North Texas vegetable gardens. No Kings will be a peaceful opportunity for members of this ever-growing community to let their voices be heard. We the People are ready to move forward.”
