Join the Eisenhower Birthplace staff at the Denison Public Library, 300 W. Gandy, on Tuesday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m. to learn how Denison celebrated Christmas during the 1890s, 1940s, and 1950s. For the fourth year, on December 14 the Music Department of Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the Old Iron Post will bring a free Christmas concert to the Grayson County Courthouse steps in historic downtown Sherman. Think Tuba Christmas, but with all instruments. Musicians of all ages and skill levels are invited to play as a part of the group.

Last year we provided presents for over 365 children in Fannin County that otherwise would not have had a good Christmas.

The event will feature tours of the holiday exhibit in the Farrell Wilson House, children's crafts in the one room school house, mule-driven wagon rides, candle dipping, historic demonstrations, a Victorian dollhouse display, storytelling, songs of the season in the historic pole barn from 3 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., delicious treats, blacksmith demonstrations in the farm shop, outdoor cooking demonstrations and photos with Santa. The event will also include holiday stories by the North Texas Story Tellers in the Young House from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as well as a unique farm light up display in the Farmstead's meadow.

Each year, the Creative Arts Center at 200 W. 5th Street in Bonham hosts an annual bazaar - Sweets, Spirits & Sparkles. This unique event features artists, artisans and craftsmen from the local area selling their one-of-a-kind items at one time in one spot. And you can sip champagne while you shop! This year the hours of the sale are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and admission is free. There will be jewelers, glass artists, wood artists, hand made soaps & lotions, painters, illustrated books and much more.

There will be 24 booths with homemade crafts, sweets, décor, retail and more. This is a great way to do your Christmas shopping and support the library.

The approximately 4,500 square foot building will be located at 500 Throckmorton in McKinney, sharing the property with Holy Family Pre-school. The Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, the property owner, is leasing the land to Community Garden Kitchen for $10 a year. McKinney Mayor George Fuller and his wife Maylee Thomas Fuller will be in attendance as well as Bishop Sumner of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.

Roxanne Wilson has been named CASA Volunteer of the Quarter. She is pictured here with her husband Bill Wilson. Wilson’s supervisor Michele Kelso said, "Roxanne was chosen as CASA Advocate of the Quarter because of her dedication to the children she is assigned to. She truly inspires other advocates in our program along with providing exceptional support to the children and their families." More volunteers are needed at the Fannin County Children's Center to be CASA advocates and to help with the Children's Advocacy Center.

Blessings & Butterflies Kid Kouture is a trendy children’s clothing boutique with a vintage twist, located right off the Bonham square on Main Street next to Luna Azul. The store opened in November of 2012 and carries the latest in boutique clothing for boys and girls ages newborn through tween.

The Auxiliary of Home Hospice of Grayson County is hosting their 31st Annual Light Up A Life Tree Lighting Ceremony on Monday, December 2 at Kelly Square in Sherman. Friends, patients and staff join together to celebrate those that have touched our lives by honoring or remembering them with a dove on our Tree of Lights. It begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and refreshments before our Tree Lighting Ceremony starting at 6:00 p.m.
