The Creative Arts Center wishes to announce the winners of the Painted Chair and Sidewalk Chalk Art Contests, held during the recent Red River Art Fest and Run for the Arts.
Mart Means (Bonham) took first place and the $350 first prize in the Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest; Chris Cravens (Bonham) took home second place and $75 and Beth Parrish (Leonard) took home third place and $50. Six artists decorated the Willow Street sidewalk squares with their renditions.
Judge Jamie Slack was impressed with all six entries and their use of space, color and composition.
The Painted Chair Contest also included artist Chris Cravens among the winners. Cravens took second place with his chair featuring poppies and went home with another $75 check. Third place was Mary Golden Musick of Paris with a beautiful portrait on her entry and first prize and $350 went to Carol Bybee of Paris and her Winnie the Pooh entry.
The Run for the Arts 5K had 40 entries and beautiful running weather. Male and Female Overall winners were Kenny Watson of Whitewright with a time of 21:44.1 and Agustina Hernandez of Ravenna with a time of 27:31.1. The Female Masters winner was Di Hopkins-Ryan of Ravenna with a time of 30:01.3. The Male Masters winner was Gerald Grafton of Sulphur Springs with a time of 29:45.0. The winners in each age group are posted on the Creative Arts Center website at www.creativeartscenter.us.
Shopping, terrific activities for kids and a delicious BBQ dinner rounded out the first annual Red River Art Fest. The CAC thanks all of their sponsors, volunteers, vendors, artists and contest entrants for a successful event.
