This event provides a free, anonymous opportunity to safely dispose of all accumulated unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs. The Drug Take-Back event aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.
Leave all medications in their original containers and remove any identifying information from the prescription label. You can also dispose of medication by removing from the container and placing it directly in the disposal box. Intravenous solutions and syringes will not be accepted.
Items that are accepted:
- Over the counter pills
- Liquid medications
- Pet medicine
Items that are not accepted:
- Needles and sharps
- Mercury (thermometers)
- Chemotherapy/radioactive substances
- Oxygen containers
- Pressurized containers
- Illicit drugs
Directional signs for the event will be located at the intersections of College St. at Eldorado and Wilson Creek Parkways. Participants will drive in at the entrance, hand over medications to a uniformed officer and circle out of the parking lot.
The Spring Drug Take-Back event was extremely successful with more than 150 cars dropping off more than 400 pounds of drugs and 150 pounds of recyclable packaging during the four-hour time span.
