Purple Light Nights Event
The Ashleigh’s Patience Project is lighting the Prayer Garden at the First Presbyterian Church in Bonham, Texas during the entire month of October for awareness.
The following businesses helped to sponsor this event…..
First Presbyterian Church of Bonham, Wise Funeral Home, Roma’s Italian Restaurant, Bonham Floral, Los Amigos, Boyer’s Jewelers, The Warehouse, Blessings and Butterflies, Muddbones, Bonham Quick Lube, Security Finance of Bonham, Windom Feedsack and Clayton Homes
The goal is to have all residents shine a purple light on every front porch; hang a string of purple lights in every business window; and decorate each downtown street tree with purple lights, to send the message that “Domestic Violence Has NO Place In Our Community.”
The outcome of Purple Light Nights is to increase the awareness of domestic violence issues and its affect upon children and families and provide education on building healthy relationships. Proceeds from this event will go to the Fannin County Crisis Center.
Candlelight Vigil for the Silent Victims of Domestic Violence
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are calling on the community to come together to stand for victims of domestic violence. We stand for those who have lost their lives. We stand for those who cannot speak up due to fear of retribution and shame. We stand for the children (forgotten victims) who are exposed. This event will be held Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. Location will be the First Presbyterian Church of Bonham’s Payer Garden.
This event is sponsored by The Ashleigh’s Patience Project, First Presbyterian Church of Bonham and The Fannin County Crisis Center. There will be several speakers and community leaders. Local talent Rita Fulmer will perform. The Vigil’s Keynote Speaker is Tara Woodlee.
About Ashleigh’s Patience Project
Ashleigh’s Patience Project was founded almost immediately after Tara Woodleigh’s daughter Ashleigh and unborn granddaughter Patience were murdered by Ashleigh’s estranged boyfriend in July 2012. Ms. Woodlee seeks to tell her daughter’s story in an effort to raise awareness about domestic violence through various proactive measures, including contacting our legislators to strengthen the laws and penalties for perpetrators of domestic violence, supporting other domestic violence organizations, groups and shelters and educating youth about the signs and dangers of domestic violence. Please feel free to contact Ms. Woodlee for more information or Interviews. We appreciate any help you can give to increase community awareness and public attendance to this event.
