September at the Creative Arts Center
Aug 29, 2013
An Advanced Drawing class has been added to the fall lineup at the Creative Arts Center, making the month of September even busier. This class will be taught by professional artist Brian Brinlee and is for ages 13 and up. This class is for adults, too. Brian recently taught Anime Drawing during Anime Camp at the center to rave reviews. The class will meet on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 PM and begin September 3. The cost is $32 per month.
Cash prizes are back in the Annual Art Show & Contest, which opens with a reception Friday, September 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This contest is open to all artists and the center will accept work between August 28 and September 4 for the show.
The gallery will be closed from noon until 6 PM on September 6 for judging and reopen for the reception. Eight categories are included, and details, rules and entry forms are on the CAC website or you may pick up forms at the CAC front office. First place in each category will receive $75 and Best of Show wins $100 and an Artist Membership (a $75 value). This year's judge is Austin College Associate Professor of Art Mark Monroe.
A Yard Sale is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so plan to attend and find new treasures. This is a fundraising project for the center.
September also kicks off the annual Membership Drive. Among other benefits, members receive a 20% discount on classes. Business Members will be featured in new signage at the center and on the website. Get noticed and sign up your business this month.
