Bonham -- One of Fannin County's largest crowds ever for an open house and ceremonial ribbon cutting were on hand Friday, August 16 to get the first glimpse inside Morning Star Academy. And for good reason, too -- there isn't an educational facility in Texoma that compares to this state-of-the-art school that will initially provide a unique learning experience for children six weeks old through first grade and then continue adding an additional grade each year.
Every parking space at Morning Star Academy was filled Friday afternoon and late arrivals circled through the parking lot waiting for an opening. Yet, even with all the attention parents have been directing towards this sparkling new facility, at the moment there are still openings available in all the classes.
The school is located just north of the intersection of Hwy. 121 and U.S. 82, which is approximately 25 minutes from the Sherman-Denison area and 30 minutes from Durant.
First-time visitors to Morning Star Academy seemed equally impressed by the advanced security system, green building concepts and spacious classrooms.
Bonham Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting and then a group of the first students that will attend Morning Star Academy also had a chance to ceremonially cut the ribbon to open this new school.
Many visitors were amazed to learn that private donors have already paid for this new facility and that means all fundraisers, such as a golf tournament coming up October 5, will be used to provide scholarships for students at Morning Star Academy.
