Bonham, Texas - Funeral services for Vera Nell (Susie) Powell, age 69 of Bonham, TX will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Bonham. Rev. Bill Beasley will officiate with the assistance of Rev. Morgan Malone. Interment will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery. Mrs. Powell passed away at Texoma Medical Center in Denison on Friday, August 20, 2010 after a 3-˝ year battle with ovarian cancer.

Vera Nell Powell was born in Fannin County on June 15, 1941 to parents Charles Raymond and Gertrude Novella (Sutton) Dale. She married Jerry Powell on January 22, 1960 in Bonham, TX. She was a head cashier for First National Bank of Bonham, was always smiling and could light up anyone’s day; she was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Bonham.

She is survived by husband - Jerry Powell of the home, son-Charlie Powell and wife Rolinda of Bells; daughter - Debra Powell and husband Doug Bryson of Allen; 2 grandchildren Triston and Hattie Powell; sisters - Ina Lee Smith and husband Glenn of Irving, Charlene Hardy and husband Jimmy of Bonham, and Maurine Bankston and husband Tommy of Bonham. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Margaret Shepherd.

Pallbearers will be Dolton Owens, Jimmy Herriage, Toney Stephens, Mark Bankston, Justin Bankston, Brian Hardy, David Herrington, and Laron Shepherd. Honorary pallbearer will be Triston Powell.

Donation may be made to American Cancer Society, 8900 John W Carpenter Fwy Dallas, Texas 75247 in the name of Susie Powell.

Family visitation will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M.
