Sherman business executive Chris Pendergrass will address Grayson County College students, employees and guests during the March 23 meeting of the It’s My Life! Leadership Series.

Pendergrass is president of Presco, a flexible PVC manufacturer and converter of outdoor marking products, operating two manufacturing facilities in Sherman.

The public is invited to attend Pendergrass’ presentation from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Grayson Room, which is located in the Student Life Center on the College’s Main Campus in Denison. Parking is available east of the Student Life Center, near the Viking Residence Hall.

“Mr. Pendergrass has a distinguished career,” said Dr. Patty Pool, executive director of GCCs Center for Workplace Learning. “His experiences during his rapid rise to company president should be both inspiring and informative for participants.”

In January 2009, Pendergrass was appointed president of Presco after a 10-year career with the company that included roles in vinyl film research and development, purchasing, management of various manufacturing departments and finally plant manager from 2006-2008.

Pendergrass earned a master’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from Austin College.  He lives in Sherman with his wife Bonnie and their son Matthew.

Sponsored by GCC’s Student Government Association, Office of Student Life, and the Center for Workplace Learning Advisory Board, the series is a public forum where guest speakers share their philosophy on leadership in today’s competitive environment.

Previous speakers have included Denison City Councilman Jared Johnson and Rear Admiral William Retz. The series is designed to help students and other participants become better prepared to succeed in college and throughout their lives.

“When business leaders like Mr. Pendergrass share their experiences, they communicate valuable lessons to participants who are developing their own leadership abilities,” said Gregg Miles, director of Student Life and SGA adviser.

The It’s My Life! Leadership Series meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The format is informal; presentations last about 30 minutes and are followed by a question-and-answer session. “The forum is a lunch-and-learn opportunity, and participants may bring their lunch to the presentation if they wish,” Miles said.
