The Fannin County Master Gardeners’ sixth annual 2010 Garden, Lawn & Home Expo is set for Saturday, March 27 from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Multi Purpose Complex located at 700 FM 87 just west of Bonham, between Hwy 82 and Hwy 56.

Speakers and topics include:

9:30 am Kim Schofield, Program Specialist - IPM, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Dallas Research & Extension Center- ‘Beneficial Arthropods’

11:00 am Steve Upson, Horticulture Consultant, Noble Foundation - ‘Home Orchard and Small Fruit Production’

1:00 pm Dotty Woodson, Ph.D., Program Specialist-Water Resources, Texas AgriLife Extension Service - Dallas Research & Extension Center - ‘Landscape Plants That Use Less H2O’

2:00 pm Greg Church, Ph.D., Collin County Extension Agent- Horticulture- ‘Dinner from the Dirt’ (Keys to Successful Vegetable Gardening)

Not only is this an educational event with knowledgeable speakers, with interesting topics, but, also, local businesses and organizations will have exhibits showcasing their products and services.

Over 40 exhibit and vendor booths with plants, lawn & garden items, home needs and decor, equipment and more will be promoting and offering their products to the public.

Extension publications and displays will be available and Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

Junior Master Gardener specialists will have a Kid’s Area with activities for the young gardeners.

Demonstration video are scheduled on pecan grafting, growing roses, fire ants and more. Fannin County 4-H will have concessions for lunch and refreshments, with proceeds going toward 4-H scholarships. There will be a silent auction and door prizes will be given throughout the day.

Admission is $4:00. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Fannin County Extension Office, South Annex, 210 S. Main, Bonham, or from any Fannin County Master Gardener. The proceeds help to fund scholarships and local projects of the Fannin County Master Gardeners.

Limited booth space is available for only $50.00. Local businesses are encouraged to be a part of the Expo to promote your service or product in person at the Expo and through our advertising prior to the event.
