Ector, Texas -- Funeral services for Rachel Lee (Fendley) Lambert, age 88 of Ector, Fannin County, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Ector. Services will be conducted by Bro. Morris Cook. Interment will follow at Carson Cemetery, north of Ector.  Mrs. Lambert crossed into Heaven Wednesday, February 3, 2010, from The Homestead of Sherman Nursing Home.

Rachel was born in Mudville (Lamar County), Texas; on August 3, 1921 she was the daughter of the late A. E. and Mollie Bryant Fendley. She married William Freeman Lambert on June 5, 1939 in Bonham, Texas. They lived and farmed in the Ector community all their married life and were active members of The First Baptist Church. They were also active in the life of the community, with Freeman having served on the School Board for twenty years. They lived together for 62 years until Freeman left for Heaven on February 17, 2003.

On April 29, 2007, Rachel, along with two other ladies, were honored by the congregation of the First Baptist Church, recognizing her for the dedication to the Lord and her service to the Church and community. She loved people, her family, and especially the children. Her smiles and hugs were always generous. No one ever left her house hungry or unloved.

She is survived by children-Glenn Charles Lambert and wife Barbara Jean of Bonham; Bradley Lambert and wife Dot of Howe; Barbara Lambert Chandler and husband Max of Whitehouse, TX; and Harold Lambert and wife Georgia; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. Sister-Lillian (Nub) Kinchen of Austin, sisters-in-law-Dorothy Lambert and Imogene Bellows and brother-in-law Hezzie Bellows all of Ft. Worth; a host of nieces and nephews; and best friend of 65 years Polly Murray of Denison.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers-James E. Carmie, Z.L. Ennis, Lon and Doyle Fendley, Granville Sprayberry and Phillip Dunham, sisters Viola Upchurch and Telitha Gay; and stepmother Mae Fendley.

Pallbearers will be Mark Holman, Clint Lambert, Charles Lambert, James Ray Hicks, Wesley Hicks, and James Underwood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hicks, Scott Ratliff and Roger Brown.

Mrs. Lambert’s children would like to thank the staff of The Homestead of Sherman and Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care extended to their mother. They would also like to express deeply their love and appreciation to the Hicks family and to Hope Younger for the care and the love shown to their mother.

The family will receive friends at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, 2022 N. Center St., in Bonham, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, February 5, 2010.
