Edward “Eddie” Dean Bell, 64 of Honey Grove passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at his home in Honey Grove, after an extended illness.

Services will be 2:00P.M. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Honey Grove, Texas. Dr. Kenneth Yates will officiate with Mr. Dave Drennan presenting a eulogy.

Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jan Cummins, Dan Pate, Brandon Bell, Jerry Bell, Melvin Moore and George Thurman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Moore, Bud Moore, Bob Milford, Larry Dobbs, Buck Spelce, Bill Wright, Dave Wright, Gary Spelce, Kyle Milford, Dennis Whitlock, Murray Jackson, Kyle Denton, Michael Mann, Mike Spelce and the Deacons of First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service.

Eddie was born Oct. 14, 1945 in Paris, Texas to Theo Dean Bell and Marie Collins Bell. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Honey Grove. He received his master’s degree from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.

He taught school for five years at Farmersville I.S.D. and for a brief time was a police officer with the Richardson Police Dept. He retired from the Texas Dept. of Human Resources in Bonham.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Bell Feb. 8, 1999.

Eddie is survived by his mother, Marie of Honey Grove; brother, Elvin Bell and wife, Joan of Pattonville, TX; Billy Bell and wife, Patty of Honey Grove, TX; nieces, Mandi Greer of Pattonville, TX; Catherine Bell and Laura Bell both of Honey Grove; Stephanie Watts of Paris; nephew, Brandon Bell of McKinney, TX. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank Dr. Prakash and staff with the Cancer Center of Paris, the staff with Cypress Home Health, the caring nurses with Premier Hospice Care and a special thanks goes to a special friend, Nell Denton.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home of Honey Grove, Texas.
