Regional Toll Revenue (RTR) identified as funding source
COLLIN COUNTY – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is well underway to widen seven miles of U.S. 380 from a 2-lane, rural highway to a 4-lane, divided highway. The $55.8 million project extends from Lavon Lake east through the City of Farmersville to the Collin/Hunt County Line.
Contractor Texas Sterling started construction of the first three miles (phase one) in November. This section of U.S. 380, also known as Audie Murphy Parkway, is expected to be complete and open to traffic by the end of 2012.
Collin County Commissioners recently approved funding the remaining two phases of the project with their portion of Regional Toll Revenue funds. As a condition of allowing the tolling of highway 121 through Collin and Denton County, local elected officials specified that their portion of NTTA’s $3.2 billion concession payment would stay in the area to fund other non-tolled projects. The funding of US 380 is one such project. The secured funding will allow Phases 2 and 3 to move forward to an estimated construction start date in the fall of 2011.
TxDOT would like to thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of Farmersville, and Collin County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
