The City of Tom Bean is presently investigating the creation of a Type B Economic Development Sales Tax.  Russell Gallahan and Ronald Gipson presented a mini seminar on the subject to several Tom Bean Officials last week.  In attendance for the presentation were Mayor Sherry E. Howard, City Secretary Cathy Pugh, P&Z members David McMinn and John McGraw, City Council members Mike Upchurch, Jerry Harris and Lisa Collins.

The State Comptroller’s office is one of a number of state agencies and organizations that have a role in promoting economic development in Texas.  Primarily, the Comptroller’s office administers certain refunds, collects and allocates sales taxes that are used by local governments to support economic development, reviews applications to schools for appraised value limitations, maintains certain economic development registries and provides technical assistance to local governments and businesses relating to economic development options.
