DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Financial expert Suze Orman will speak at the University of North Texas at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1 (Tuesday) as part of its Distinguished Lecture Series. The lecture will be held in the ballroom of UNT’s Gateway Center, located on North Texas Boulevard between Eagle Drive and Highland Street. A question-and-answer session will follow the lecture.

USA Today has called Suze Orman “a force in the world of personal finance” and a “one-woman financial advice powerhouse.” A two-time Emmy Award-winning television host, New York Times bestselling author, magazine and online columnist, writer and producer, and a top motivational speaker, Orman is one of America's most recognized experts on personal finance.

For the past eight years, she has hosted CNBC’s award-winning “Suze Orman Show.” She is also the contributing editor to “ ‘O’ The Oprah Magazine” and the “Costco Connection Magazine.” Not only is she the single most successful fundraiser in the history of public television, but she has also received six Gracie awards, more than anyone in the 34-year history of the award. The Gracie award recognizes the nation's best radio, television and cable programming for, by and about women.

Her recent honors include being named on the Forbes list of the Most Influential Women in Media; receiving an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Illinois; and twice being named as one of the TIME 100, The World’s Most Influential People. Orman is also the recipient of the National Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign and the Amelia Earhart Award for her message of financial empowerment for women.

Orman, who grew up on the south side of Chicago, earned a bachelor’s degree in social work at the University of Illinois.
