This photograph shows approximately one half of the 80 students from Tom Bean ISD who made a half-day field trip to Perrin Air Force Base Historical Museum and North Texas Regional Airport-Perrin Field on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.

The group was split in half while one group toured the airport tour including the Texoma Jet Center's hanger and special types of jet aircraft including the Russian MiG17. Then they were briefed by the Perrin Field Fire Department's aircraft crash-rescue team, as well as visual observations of small and large airplanes operating on the flight line and runway.

The other half toured the museum and presented historical videos of Perrin Field and an exciting video of the Air Force Thunderbirds performing at an aerial demonstration show. The groups were switched to make sure all received the same experience during the Perrin Field field trip.

Schools in the Texoma area benefit by the airport field trips by saving transportation costs to and from the Dallas-Fort Worth area while experiencing many of the same aviation and historical aspects of more expensive field trips.
