Bonham, Texas -- Graveside services for Gretta G. Bryant, age 71, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Bryant passed away at home on Thursday, November 12, 2009. 

Gretta Bryant was born in Petty, Texas on February 16, 1938 to parents William Melvin Rhoades and Fannie Rebecca Smart Rhoades. She was the first born of seven children. She worked as food server manager and manager for 14 years at Macks Corner in Grapevine, TX, attended grade school in Noble, Texas, and graduated in Dumas, Texas. She was Ladies President with VFW Post 10454 in Grapevine for 20 + years, and wants to be remembered as a proud American. Mrs. Bryant is of the Baptist faith. 

Survivors are Kenneth Ward, Melba “Jean” Harrison, William “Hawk” Melvin Rhoades and wife Wanda, James “Dan” Daniel Rhoades, Jerry Don Rhoades and wife Carol, Barbara June Pafford and husband Carl, Robert Earl Rhoades and wife Gail, and special friends of 40 years James and Elaine Watson of Ivanhoe, TX. Husbands Theodore “Red” and Lloyd “Winker” Bryant preceded her in death. 

Pallbearers will be her brothers and honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Ward, James Watson, Roy Ward, Joe Green, Dennis Sackett, Johnny Merritt, Ernie Arnold, and Wyatt Cox. 

There is no family visitation scheduled. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hickory Grove Cemetery P.O. Box 186 Petty, TX 75470 or to your local VFW. Special thanks to Hospice Plus and Linda Chandler for their care, and very special thanks to James and Elaine Watson for 40+ years of love, laughter, and friendship.
