SHERMAN, TEXAS—Austin College students are experts at multi-tasking. From academics to social events, service activities to campus leadership roles, their daily “to do” lists include more items than seem achievable in a 24-hour day.
International study also is a key component of the Austin College experience for seven of 10 students. What happens when those very active students are abroad and still quite connected to events and leadership opportunities at the College?
The campus community discovered the answer this week. Carolyn Stone, one of the candidates for the 2010 student body president, is spending the fall term in Argentina. When it came time for a campaign forum on November 9, Carolyn was not to be left out. She participated via Skype from a cyber café in Buenos Aires. Dallas Key, current student body president, assisted Carolyn in interfacing with the standing-room-only crowd gathered to hear from the candidates.
Joining junior Carolyn Stone of Carrollton in the campaign for president are junior Kayla Saxon of Sherman and junior Erin Sweeney of Rowlett. Vice presidential hopefuls are junior Stephanie Almanza of San Antonio and junior Rindcy Davis of Irving.
