Charles Adolphus Stewart

Bonham, Texas -- A celebration honoring the life of Charles Adolphus Stewart, 72, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at New Home Baptist Church.  Rev. Gene Reddick will officiate.  Burial will follow in Gates Hill Cemetery.  Charles passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham. 

Charles was born June 2, 1937 in Fannin County, Texas, the son of Quilbert Stewart and Ethel Marie Ryan Stewart.  He was a 1956 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Bonham.  Charles married Lillie Faye Harvey, May 4, 1957 in Ravenna, Texas.  He was a licensed car detailer for Carter Chevrolet for many years and worked for Fannin County Funeral Home for 30 years.  Charles was a member and deacon of New Home Baptist Church where he served in various capacities.  He enjoyed fishing, yard work and riding his scooter.  Charles was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Wilma Jean Smith and Peggy Oliphant. 

He is survived by ~

Wife:  Lillie Stewart of Bonham

Son:  Melvin Stewart and wife, Nikita of Bonham

Daughters:  Cassandra Stewart of Mesquite

                Vanessa Elliott and husband, Richard and Ethel Samuels and husband, Lawrence of Bonham

Special Niece raised by Charles and Lillie:  Lisa Jones of Bonham

7 Grandchildren:  Shikita Williams, Shantae Stewart, Shanice Stewart, Shenae Watson, Damien Stewart, Dadrain Stewart and Jerome Stewart

3 Step grandchildren

8 Great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

Special cousins:  Dorothy Dale and Myrtle McIntyre 

Grandsons, great-grandsons, Adrean Fuller, Aaron, Fuller, Jerrell Stewart, Braeden Stewart and Da’Jaylon Roberts and Roy Henry White will be honorary pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday night.
