Ivanhoe, Texas - Funeral services for Ruth Evelyn Scrivner, age 86, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Telephone Baptist Church. Rev. Brian Everett will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Duplex Cemetery. Mrs. Scrivner passed away at her residence on Saturday, November 7, 2009. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

 

Ruth Evelyn Scrivner was born to parents George Washington and Lillie Lee Whisenhunt Rice on May 22, 1923 in the Community of Duplex, Texas. She married Bill Scrivner on January 4, 1941 in Fannin County, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2004. Mrs. Scrivner was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She submitted stories for the Bonham Daily Favorite and participated in telling “Our Stories” at Austin College. She was a member of Telephone Baptist Church.

 

Survivors are daughters-Donna Mosley and husband Mike of Elwood, Jo Cook and husband Jack of Arthur City, Son-Harold Latham and wife Kathy of Elwood Community.  14 grandchildren-Mark Mosley, Myles Mosley, Kenzie Mosley, Amy Norwood, Angela Patterson, Bobby Cook, Chas Mosley, Charlie Weissert, Laurie Grayson, Angie Moore, Richard Latham, Cheryl Latham, Joey Latham and Adeline Latham and 10 great-grandchildren. Sister-in-law-Kathryn Keeton of Tulip.

 

Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Telephone Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School Class.

 

Family visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. prior to service at Telephone Baptist Church on Monday, November 9, 2009.
