To the residents of Fannin County...

What do we place value in - people, places, things?  Apparently we look at things differently.  I feel the future of the USA, including Fannin County lies in its youth.  The key to moving forward is a sound education.

Why was the Bond Issue for schools turned down?  Apathy, not wanting to spend money, not willing to step to the plate and be counted.  There are many reasons.  I've raised 4 children in Bonham Schools.  Presently, 4 of my grandchildren are attending school here.  Have you visited the schools lately?  All of them need some type of repair.  Bathrooms are not working.  Asbestos is still found in some of them.  We know that asbestos is a cancer causing agent.  How can we continue to turn down our future?

Our children are the adults of tomorrow.  They will be the leaders.  Don't you feel we need to have them as prepared as possible to meet the challenges of the future?  I personally want to apologize to the teachers and students of Bonham Schools.  You deserve better than what the voters have given.  You deserve the best accommodations to learn and the best teachers to guide you.  We have the best teachers; now we need to spend the money and get our schools up to standard to meet the needs of teachers and students.  I believe Fannin County Residents want the best for their children.  Am I right?   What can be done now instead of next year? We need answers!
