Bonham, Texas - On September 24, the First National Bank of Trenton hosted a spaghetti dinner and auction fundraiser to help Fannin County Habitat launch their fund-raising campaign for building the new Leonard home. The next day, Habitat’s Volunteer Board Treasurer was presented with the proceeds of $1780.50.
The Board of Directors for Fannin County Habitat wishes to extend our heart-felt thanks to them for the great financial start for this next home, our 4th in Fannin County.
The dinner/auction was held in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Leonard. The bank’s employees and several members of the church did all of the cooking, serving and cleaning. They served salad, spaghetti and meat sauce, garlic toast and a huge array of desserts. Along with coffee or tea every one enjoyed a delicious meal! Auctioneer Ken Patrick led the silent and live auctions. He is from McKinney and a dedicated supporter and volunteer of the Habitat affiliate there.
Members of the Board and the prospective homebuyer family were there to meet, greet and thank all of the guests. Wilson Fryar, Board President, told the crowd, “It is our hope to get the foundation for the new home poured and to hold our first volunteer orientation in late October, if we can do this, we will begin construction in early November. We appreciate the great help that the bank is providing us. We are also grateful to every donor that is here to provide his or her donations and support. We have a long way to go to make this dream a reality, but this a fantastic beginning!”
