’Roo volleyball cruises past Sul Ross

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team won its sixth straight match with a 3-0 victory over visiting Sul Ross State University on Thursday night in Hughey Gym, bring the team’s overall record to 6-1 on the year.  The ’Roos topped the Lobos by scores of 25-7, 25-9, 25-9. 

Jessi Fleming led the way for the ’Roos with nine kills and four total blocks, and Jordan Anderton added 15 assists in the win.  Nita Kavouspour had five kills, Kelly McDaniel had nine assists and three digs, and Quinn McKee had four aces and eight digs for the ’Roos. 

The ’Roos will be back in action tomorrow when they host the 14th Annual Austin College Classic, which features Berry College, East Texas Baptist University, Jarvis Christian University, Mid-American Christian University, Ouachita Baptist University, Sul Ross, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the University of Texas-Tyler.  The first match is at 12:00 p.m., with Austin College playing at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in Hughey Gym. 

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
