Southeastern's Deana Brooks, Sara Schmidt earn academic honors from ITA

DURANT, Okla. - Deana Brooks and Sara Schmidt of the Southeastern women's tennis team have been honored as 2008 ITA All-Academic Scholar Athlete by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Brooks, a native of Dripping Springs, Texas, is an occupational safety and health major. She posted an 8-13 record in singles play last season, as well as a 15-9 record in doubles action.

Schmidt, an accounting major, is a native of Sand Springs, Okla. Last season she posted a 12-9 record in singles and an 8-12 mark in doubles play.

"I'm proud of these two," said women's tennis coach Pat Mauldin, "They work hard on the court and in the class room and you can't ask for a whole lot more than that."
