Do you live an historically significant or plain old house? Either way, old homes need special considerations to become energy efficient.

Sherman Preservation League’s Old House Club will present a program by Catherine Horsey specifically geared to those who live in old houses.

The League presents “Greening Your Old House” May 18, 3:00 p.m. at the C.S. Roberts House, 915 S. Crockett, in Sherman.  Catherine, a preservationist and consultant will talk about the ways that old houses can be intrinsically sustainable, and then let owners know priorities for retrofitting their house for energy efficiency.

Catherine has been involved in historic preservation for more than 20 years.  She was executive director of Preservation Dallas from 1993 to 2000.  She returned to Dallas in 2004 after four years at the Providence Preservation Society to work on sustainable development projects, including Urban Reserve, a sustainable residential development, and the Dogwood Canyon and Trinity River Audubon Centers, both expected to be LEED-certified on completion.  She is a LEED accredited professional and her consulting firm, Sustainable Places, Sustainable Organizations, is currently working on a public advocacy project to promote sustainable buildings and energy efficiency strategies throughout North Texas.

The Sherman Preservation League was founded in 1980 with a mission to educate our community and other interested parties about the Historical properties in and around the Sherman area. and to encourage the preservation of our architectural heritage. This program is open to the public and is free of charge.
