DURANT, Okla. - The Southeastern Oklahoma State men's basketball team added four players for the 2008-09 season as announced by head coach Tony Robinson.

The Savage Storm threw out a wide recruiting net, landing players from four different states. The class consists of three JuCo signees and one freshman.

The freshman is a 5-10 point guard from Alexandria, La., Mychal Horn. He led his Peabody HS team to the 2007 state championship, following that up with a 36-1 season in which they lost in the game leading to state. Horn earned all-state, all-region and all-city honors as a senior, averaging 18 points, six assists and three steals per game.

"Mychal had a huge senior season," said Robinson, "We are very excited to get a young player of his caliber and know that he will have a great future at Southeastern."

From the junior college ranks, SOSU will add Carlin Whitten, a 6-3 guard from Wichita, Kan., by way of Pratt Community College. Whitten averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals per game at PCC. While in high school he earned all-state, all-metro and all-city honors, as well as leading his team to state titles in 2002 and 2005.

"He is strong and athletic," said Robinson, "And should be able to step in and assume a leadership role."

William Sloan is a 6-8 center that hails from Orlando, Fla., but played at Allen County Community College. At ACCC he averaged nine points and eight rebounds a game.

"He is a greta shot blocker and rebounder," said Robinson, "We expect 'Big Will' to be able to come right in and produce for us inside."

Rounding out the class thus far is Zach Scrivner, a 6-4 guard from Linn Valley, Kan., that also played at ACCC. He was an all-state player in Kansas while in high school where he averaged 23 points and eight boards per game.

"Zach is a big guard," said Robinson, "who we think can make a contribution to our team in many ways."
