STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS— The last Friday of each month, five art galleries in Granbury’s historical district will roll out the red carpet for art patrons. The Dora Lee Langdon Center Art Gallery, Studio 216, the Shanley House Art Gallery and Gift Shop, Your Private Collection and Double Exposure Portrait Art will be collectively hosting Gallery Night, beginning March 28.
The group will stay open to 9 p.m. and will offer amenities such as hors d'oeuvres, wine and music. The Granbury Trolley will also be in transit from each location during Gallery Night.
“This will be an excellent opportunity for us to work together to share the talents of local and national artists,” said Janice Horak, director of the Langdon Center. “It will be a fun way to bring people to the community who are interested in quality fine art and educate them at the same time.”
Tarleton State University’s Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center is located on Pearl Street just off the square and is among the hosts of Gallery Night. The Langdon Center provides educational and cultural programs throughout the year, including concerts, art shows and sales. The center also provides the region with a strong community education program, offering more than 40 courses throughout the year.
The center’s gallery features nationally and regionally renowned artists as well as local talent. The historical watercolors of Burl Washington will be on display during Gallery Night. Washington’s work brings the history of Buffalo Soldiers, Black Cowboys, Women of the West and Blacks in Aviation to modern times.
