A Brush Control Demonstration will follow the Range & Wildlife Management Seminar scheduled for Friday, February 29, 2008. Those interested in attending the brush demonstration will leave from the seminar at Honey Grove and travel to the Porter Farm on County Road 4255 just north of Bailey.

There will be Fannin Soil & Water Conservation Event Signs on HWY 78, FM 1550, and CR 4255 locating the brush demonstration.  Maps will be handed out at the Range/Wildlife Seminar.

The demonstration will last about an hour.  We plan to get to the farm about 2:00pm.

This is a quite unique type of brush control.  A machine that will mulch and grind the trees in one pass will be demonstrated.  Brush species to be controlled are honey locust, bois d’ arc, elm and green ash.  This brush grinder will handle up to 24-inch diameter trees.

For questions regarding the brush demonstration, call the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service office at 903-583-9513 x3 or 903-640-3773 cell.
