Bonham, Texas -- With "Hotel California" blaring from a hefty set of speakers and a few surfer decals emblazoned on windows, dozens of Volkswagen vans and Beetles -- with a Thing or two thrown in for good measure -- came rolling into Bonham on Wednesday afternoon for an entended visit during the group's 2026 Texas European VW Road Trip.

The 2026 version is the third Texas European VW Road Trip and this event seems to be gaining momentum with more interest every year. The variety of Volkswagens certainly lived up to its billing as "a rolling celebration of Volkswagen culture, travel, history, and community, all experienced from behind the wheel of some of the most iconic vehicles ever built."
The trekkers enjoyed lunch in historic downtown Bonham and then gathered for a tour of the 1888 Fannin County Courthouse. Lisa Loiselle, administrative assistant for the Fannin County judge, made sure that all the visitors' passports were embossed with the Fannin County seal and then Fannin County Auditor Alicia Whipple led a tour of the historic courthouse.
Melissa Maxwell, Director of Tourism & Marketing for the City of Bonham, handed out brochures, free sunglasses and other mementos to the visitors as they entered the courthouse.
Then it was time for the VW caravan to hit the road for the drive to Paris, Texas for a VW Show at Bywaters Park.
