Theater For Hope makes a 'splash' this summer with the musical The Little Mermaid

Sherman, Texas -- Come join Theater For Hope and their talented cast and crew “Under the Sea” for the Disney musical The Little Mermaid June 6,7,8 performed at the Sherman High School Auditorium.  Tickets are $12 for general admission and can be purchased online now at theaterforhope.com or at the door the night of the performance. The Little Mermaid production is sponsored by Noteworthy Repairs.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."

Leandra Williams teaches the "Under the Sea" choreography to the Little Mermaid cast.

The cast for Theater For Hope’s production features Andrea Bryson as Ariel, Aiden Hill as Prince Eric, Ian Flood as Grimsby, Mattie Scheibmeir as Flounder, Emily Ellis as Scuttle, and Mo Mount as Sebastian the Crab.  King Triton is played by Nicholas Williams with his daughters (Mersisters) Sarah Williams as Adrina, Avery Williams as Arista, Rebecca Smith as Adela, Emma Schrodt as Adrina, Natalie Ball as Alana, and Lucy Boessen as Aquata.

Serving the sinister Sea Witch Ursula played by Ellis Cate is Max Hightower as the eel Jetsam and Madison Workman as the eel Flotsam.  In King Triton’s court are Kate Adams Winward and Meg Blanch Leeward, plus Chef Louis played by Javier Rodrigo.

Rounding out the cast is the ensemble of maids, sailors, princesses, gulls, and sea creatures portrayed by Audrey Carlin, Mason Schrodt, Dianna Marshall, Gabriel Derrick, Emma Dovel, Kylie Blankenship, Charlie Pearce, Leanne Duigan, Ava Dugian, Sebastian Sperry, Caydence Marshall, Addi Blankenship, Miriam Scheibmeir, Maggie Boessen, Christianna Reynolds, Heather Winn, Marayah Clark, Peyton Gilman, Kayla Gilman, Lorie Perman, Jace Schrodt, and Jamie Schrodt.

Accompanying the cast is an 11-piece orchestra (the Hot Crustacean Band) which includes Timothy Jenkins and Lauri Blanch on keyboards, Reese Brentzel, Pat Brentzel, Meg Joyner, Heather Parker on woodwinds, Andy Johnson, Catherine Walton on brass, Amy Shojai and Colman Scheibmeir on strings, and Eric Brentzel percussion.

Director of Theater For Hope is Webster Crocker who started this non-profit theater in 2021 at Hope on Houston with the help and assistance of fellow directors: Heidi Scheibmeir as vocal director, Leandra Williams as choreographer, and Thomas Bryson orchestra conductor.

Costuming this cast of 41 is Shelley Shurtleff, Tina Ross, and Logan Shurtleff. Lighting is by Kyle Nichols and sound by Kelly Walton and Jacob Aldrich.  Stage Manager is Alivia Bryson.

Don’t miss this summer treat of a show June 6, 7, 8 at 7:00 p.m. and June 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Sherman High School Auditorium, it is sure to make a splash and leave you with a tale (tail) to tell!
