Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that overnight closures are slated this week at the intersection of US 75 and US 82 in Sherman, Texas.

These temporary overnight closures are necessary to complete the bridge replacement work at this intersection, officials said. Message boards and signs will guide travelers around this work via signed detours.

On May 22, west- and eastbound US 82 mainlanes will close to thru traffic, and traffic in both directions will again detour to frontage roads so work crews can place the concrete deck of the new bridge at this intersection.

The temporary overnight closures will begin at 7 p.m. on the following dates, and the roadway will reopen to regular traffic flow by 6 a.m. the following day. These temporary closures will allow work crews to place new bridge-deck forms at this intersection, officials said.

While these closures are in effect, drivers are asked to be aware of road crews on the highway, expect some delays, and plan their commutes in advance. This construction and any temporary closures it creates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
