Denison, Texas -- Looking for fun and educational activities for your kids this summer? Are you a Denison resident and want your kids to learn more about one of its most famous residents? Are you visiting Denison and want activities for your kids in the mornings? The Eisenhower Birthplace is hosting a 3-day summer camp!

Join us for a three-day adventure as we dive into history, art, science, and fun! June 12 through June 14 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. will be packed with hands-on learning activities and fun.

Schedule of events

June 12: Let’s Get Artistic
History and art go hand-in-hand. Join us for a day of art activities from the 1890s, 1940s, 1950s, and today. Design your own camp pennant; design a quilt suncatcher and learn the math and artistry behind quilting; make your own statue and learn about commemoration; and design your campaign button and learn about Eisenhower’s presidential campaign.

June 13: From Archaeology to Space
Eisenhower was a big proponent of science! Explore science from below Earth’s surface into space, and everything in between. Learn about stratigraphy and relative dating featuring artifacts from the site excavation; learn about Morse Code then and now with special guests from the Grayson County Amateur Radio Club; and learn about the laws of propulsion with Coke and Mentos.

June 14: Presidential Hobbies
Eisenhower had multiple hobbies he used to reduce the stress and tension from his demanding jobs as Army General and U.S. President. Explore some of Ike’s favorite pastimes like golf, painting, fishing, and gardening, and maybe even find your next favorite hobby!

The camp is geared toward ages 8 to 12. You can sign up for one day or for all three. The cost is $25 per day or $60 for all three days. To get the $60 rate you must sign up for all three days at one time. Space is limited and reservations are required. Registration deadline is May 29.

Please call, email, or stop by the site to register.
