Plano, Texas -- A fascinating free, fun and educational weekend featuring sparkling minerals, dazzling gemstones, and awe-inspiring fossils, all showcased by world-class dealers from around the globe, is coming back to the Plano Event Center May 17 – 19.

"The event will showcase affordable items for budding young rockhounds, jewelry collectors will make rare finds, and seasoned collectors and geology buffs will find rare and exquisite specimens," said Millerann Moya, Senior Marketing Manager of Visit Plano.  "The Mineral and Fossil Show is a great place to just take in the natural beauty of minerals or delve deeper into the science behind them."

The show also promises to delight amateur miners and light up geologists with two guest speakers, since mining historian Will Heierman will have a session on "Fool's Gold" History of Gold Mining in America and Joanne Socash will share her expertise on fulgurite – the fascinating glassy creations formed by lightning strikes.

Show hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking are free. In addition, each child in attendance will receive a free rock or fossil.

The Plano Event Center is located at 2000 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75074.
