Fannin County, Texas -- Fannin County Judge Newt Cunningham signed a proclamation declaring April to be Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month in Fannin County. This proclamation was signed during Commissioner’s Court on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The courthouse was full of child abuse professionals, Fannin County Crisis Center staff, CASA volunteers, Fannin County Children’s Center (FCCC) Board Members, elected officials, and FCCC staff.

When given a chance to make remarks, Kim Skidmore commented, "The heart of the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA movements is the idea that these cases are too big and too important to do alone. This proclamation and the people in this room are a testament to that.”

The Fannin County Children’s Center has many events you are able to get involved in this month. Of note, they are hosting a breakfast on April 30 that features a child abuse survivor and detective, Tim Rountree, giving a keynote.
