Fannin County, Texas -- The annual Winter Field Day was was held January 27 & 28, 2024. Fannin County Amateur Radio Club operated from Lake Bonham Pavilion again this year. That let the club operate away from home using auxiliary power and mobile antennas. This activity lets equipment and procedures be tested for times of high stress crisis operations. Contacts were made with most states in the US along with several Canadian provinces and Puerto Rico.

The club also held the Chili Cook-off, the 3rd in what has become as anticipated as the radio activity. Judge Newt Cunningham captured first place, with Keith Mumaw coming in 2nd. Many thanks to JP3 Kenneth Karl, Candidates for PCT1 Commissioner Mitchell Smith and Troy Waggoner for serving as judges. Thanks to District Clerk April Gibbs, 336th District Judge candidate Kyle Shaw, Bonham Sr Customer Service Clerk Tammy Waggoner and many other guests for sharing the fun.
