Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced the temporary closure of the intersection of State Highway 91 and US 75 in Sherman, Texas, during December 2023.

The closure is slated to begin at 7:00 a.m. Dec. 1. State Highway 91 should reopen to traffic by 6:00 a.m. Dec. 31, officials said.

The closure is necessary for construction of the new northbound US 75 overpass at State Highway 91. While this intersection is closed, traffic on SH 91 will be able to turn right ONLY onto the frontage road and detour to the next intersection.

Southbound US 75 traffic exiting for SH 91 will continue on the southbound frontage road to North Travis Street and turn left, then continue on the northbound frontage road. Message boards and signs will be placed to direct travelers around the closure, officials said.

While this new phase of construction is underway on US 75, officials advise drivers to be aware of road crews on the highway, expect some delays, and plan their commutes in advance. This construction and any temporary lane closures it creates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who frequently travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
