Fannin County, Texas -- On Saturday, 18 November 2023, the Fannin County Amateur Radio Club met at the gazebo at First Presbyterian Church in Bonham for a quick meeting prior to grilling the hotdogs for the Spirit of Giving. The business part of the meeting covered a summary of the activities of the year, reminder of officer nominations due to VP James Hunt KI5DQ, and that our next meeting will also be a special event for our group at Windom Feed Sack. We adjourned and started the grill. An excellent job of hotdog assembly line with some success! (We only had one loss!)

Fannin County Amateur Radio Club is involved in many aspects of the community beyond the emergency communications part. Supporting the community beyond our own area is also a large part of the activities. Radio is in a lot of what we do, and in the support of communities in our county and the adjoining ones.

We do classes for each level of license: Technician, General, and Extra, and offer the tests for the license. Currently, the class for the support for repeaters in the radio world is ongoing. Amateur Radio operators work with scouts for merit badge requirements, along with Jamboree On The Air (JOTA). Parks On The Air (POTA) brings attention to area parks at levels from city parks all the way to the national parks.
