Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced the temporary closure of the FM 1417 Southbound Exit Ramp to State Highway 56 starting Nov. 20, weather permitting.

The closure is expected to last one day and is slated to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The ramp will reopen to traffic at 3 p.m. This closure is part of the FM 1417 reconstruction project presented at public hearings. It is necessary to complete work on the intersection of FM 1417 and SH 56, officials said.

While the closure is in effect, travelers southbound on FM 1417 can turn left on Washington Street, and then turn right on Sunset Boulevard to proceed to FM 1417.

Through traffic on FM 1417 will not be affected by this temporary closure.

Motorists who frequently travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
