Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that concrete barriers will be installed in the median of US 82 in Grayson County, from Loy Lake Road to FM 1417, starting on Nov. 27, 2023.

FNH Construction, Plano, Texas, was granted 156 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $3.3 million. The target completion date of this project is September 2024, officials said.

This project will install permanent traffic barriers in the median of this portion of US 82 to help prevent crossover head-on collisions on this roadway in the future. Occasional lane closures will be necessary while this project is underway, officials said.

Motorists who frequently travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
